Multilingual Text Analysis MLTA - Comparative Corpus Linguistics

Large-scale Annotation and Alignment of Parallel Corpora for the Investigation of Linguistic Variation

In this project we aim to prove the usefulness of working with annotated and aligned parallel corpora in order to investigate linguistic variation. We are especially interested in the variable article use in English and German using a multi-variate analysis. This will prove useful for purposes of language teaching and machine translation.

We will annotate and align parallel corpora in English, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Finnish. As a source we use the Europarl Corpus and the Multilingual United Nations Corpus.
